Offering up to 53 pure electric miles and up to 420 miles with a full charge and a full tank of gas, the new Volt allows you to make fewer stops, letting you focus on your commute. Plus, Chevrolet expects owners will drive 1,000 miles between fill-ups with regular charging, making the gas station a distant memory.
Brilliance in Every Detail
Form meets function in Volt. It starts with a sleek and sporty redesign that elevates the first-generation design. And with two unique trim models and multiple color and wheel choices, it’s easy to create a Volt that matches your personality.
Behind the Design
Volt designer John Cafaro and engineer Pam Fletcher discuss how the next-generation Volt was redesigned inside and out to create a stunning vehicle that’s more intuitive to drive. Every aspect of Volt has been boosted, from its aerodynamic enhancements to its improved technology, to create a better driving experience.
Efficiency in Engineering
With its all-new 1.5L direct-injected, high-efficiency engine, Volt is the electric car with a backup plan. It runs on an electric charge and generates additional electric power through a gas-powered generator when the battery runs out — giving you the confidence to go as far as you want.
Volt is powered by two electric motors that work in unison to optimize efficiency and conserve electric charge while providing responsive power and torque.
With a fully charged lithium-ion battery, Volt is capable of driving up to 53 miles without using gas. The second-generation Volt battery is both lighter and holds more energy than the first-generation one.
When the battery runs low on electric charge, Volt seamlessly engages its gas-powered generator to keep you going for a total range of up to 420 miles on a full charge and full tank of gas.
Volt looks for ways to smartly use energy while you're on the road. Through regenerative braking and Regen on Demand™, Volt captures its own momentum to recharge the battery as it slows down.
The Power is in Your Hands
Owning an electric car isn't as scary as you think. With a professionally installed 240-volt charging station, Volt can recharge in as little as 4.5 hours to provide up to 53 pure electric miles powered by electricity. And its 1.5L direct-injected, high-efficiency engine takes over when the electricity runs out, providing a total range of up to 420 miles with a full tank of gas and a full charge.
Volt recharges with a 120-volt portable cord in approximately 13 hours or with a professionally installed 240-volt charging system in approximately 4.5 hours.
Regen on Demand™
Through a steering wheel-mounted paddle, Regen on Demand seamlessly transfers the kinetic energy from the vehicle's motion and stores it in the battery while slowing the vehicle down.
Power Flow screen
How will you use your power? The Power Flow screen shows you where the energy is going during your drive.
A programmable “home” setting for charging helps the next-generation Volt fit your lifestyle. This feature allows you to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates when you’re at home but always begins charging immediately when you’re away.
4G LTE Wi-Fi
Volt offers available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity through OnStar®. The powerful signal gives you and your passengers the ability to seamlessly connect up to seven devices to the Internet, giving you the freedom to roam while connected.
Simplify your life with ingenious technology, like support for Apple CarPlay compatibility, which allows you to easily interact with some of your iPhone’s features, like music and text messages, the way you’re used to through the interface of your Volt.
The standard OnStar Basic Plan keeps you connected for five years and includes select features of the RemoteLink mobile app as well as limited OnStar services, like Advanced Diagnostics and dealer Maintenance Notification to help you schedule service.
